Censimenti/statistiche delle aziende: Addetti (EPT)
Dal 1995 per tutte le sedi di lavoro rilevate nell'ambito dei censimenti federali delle aziende vengono determinate delle coordinate. Numerose caratteristiche relative ad aziende e impieghi di tutti i settori economici, suddivise tra tempo pieno e parziale e secondo la NOGA (nomenclatura generale delle attività economiche), vengono aggregate all'ettaro dopo ogni rilevamento e sono disponibili sotto forma di geodati.Dal 2011, il censimento delle aziende è sostituito dalla statistica strutturale delle imprese (STATENT), cioé un rilevamento dettagliato realizzato sulla base di dati tratti dai registri delle casse di compensazione AVS. La STATENT fornisce informazioni chiave sulla struttura dell'economia svizzera (p.es. numero di imprese, numero di stabilimenti, numero di addetti ecc.) dando una visione generale del panorama economico svizzero. Gli addetti in equivalenti a tempo pieno (EPT) risultano dalla conversione del volume di lavoro (misurato in termini di addetti o di ore di lavoro) in impieghi a tempo pieno.

Die Betriebszählung war eine gesamtschweizerische Befragung aller Betriebe und Unternehmen. Ihre Zielsetzung bestand in der vollständigen Erfassung aller wirtschaftlichen Produktionseinheiten unter ökonomischen, sozialen und räumlichen Gesichtspunkten. Die Erhebung aktualisierte das Betriebs- und Unternehmensregister und diente als Referenz für eine Reihe von Statistiken.

Hektarauswertungen der Betriebszählungen seit 1995 werden bei GEOSTAT in relationalen Datenbanken verwaltet, in welchen jede Hektare (eines für alle Erhebungen identischen Standardrasters) einen Datenrecord darstellt. Für die Diffusion können daraus gleichermassen strukturierte Textdateien (Normalfall), bei Bedarf aber auch GIS-kompatible Vektor- (Punktdaten) oder Rasterdaten (GRID, GeoTIFF) erzeugt werden.

Die Geokodierungen der Eidgenössischen Betriebszählungen umfassen alle mit einer gesamtschweizerisch eindeutigen BUR-Nummer identifizierten Arbeitsstätten. Durch die Geokodierung wird jede Arbeitsstätte mit einem Gebäude im Eidgenössischen Gebäude- und Wohnungsregister (GWR) verknüpft. Die Koordinaten des Gebäudes im GWR werden danach der Arbeitsstätte zugeteilt.

Betriebszählungen sind Vollerhebungen (ursprünglich per Fragebogen oder via Internet, ab 2011 Registererhebung, meistens ohne Direktbefragung) der Arbeitsstätten des sekundären und tertiären Sektors. Für den produktiven Landwirtschaftsbereich erfolgt die Datenerhebung durch Koordination der administrativen Daten im Rahmen der Direktzahlungsverordnung.
